Everything you need to know about the Aegean Sea

When to go to the Aegean Sea

May–October is the ideal time. June and September are the most pleasant (25-29°C). April–May are perfect for archaeological tours (Ephesus, Pergamon, Pamukkale) when the temperature is mild.

Where to stay

Kusadasi/Izmir for Ephesus and the north, Bodrum/Yalikavak for the cosmopolitan centre, Marmaris/Ölüdeniz for the south with legendary beaches. A Blue Cruise is ideal for seeing the whole archipelago.

Getting around

The airport–hotel transfer is included. The Aegean Coast is vast — a rental car makes all the difference for exploring the coastal villages (Sirince, Şirince, Datça). Local dolmuş minibuses connect the resorts.

Local food

Try grilled octopus, salt-baked levrek (sea bass), Aegean kebab and meze with ouzo/rakı. The local food festival in Alaçatı in May is a must for foodies.
