When to go to the Maldives
November to April is the dry season, ideal for the beach and snorkelling. May to October brings short showers and lower prices.
Where to stay
North and South Malé Atoll are closest to the airport (speedboat), while Ari and Baa Atoll are famous for reefs, whale sharks and manta rays.
Getting around
The speedboat or seaplane transfer is included. Between islands you travel on excursions organised by the resort.
Local food
Try mas huni (tuna with coconut), garudhiya (fish soup) and fresh tropical fruit. Resorts have international restaurants.

A free tourist visa is granted on arrival for up to 30 days, with a valid passport, a hotel booking and a return ticket. Check the current requirements before you travel.
Resorts are on separate islands. The transfer is by speedboat or seaplane, depending on the atoll, and is included in the package.
The local currency is the rufiyaa (MVR), but in resorts you usually pay in US dollars or by card.
