When to go to Zanzibar
June to October is the dry season, with pleasant temperatures. December to February is hot and sunny, ideal for a winter beach holiday.
Where to stay
The north (Nungwi, Kendwa) has beaches where the sea stays deep even at low tide, plus spectacular sunsets. The east coast (Paje, Jambiani, Kiwengwa) has wide lagoons, great for kitesurfing.
Getting around
The airport–hotel transfer is included. For Stone Town, Prison Island, Jozani forest or Mnemba atoll, an organised tour is the easiest option.
Local food
Try spiced pilau, “Zanzibar mix” (urojo) and seafood at the Forodhani night market in Stone Town.
